Calling the class of '82!
If you started at Warwick in 1982, then this is your reunion year. Get in touch with friends and tutors, share memories of your time at Warwick, and return to campus for a reunion dinner on Saturday 10 May 2008.

This year we have designed a Warwick Reunions website where graduates can access details about their reunion, see who is planning to attend, view photographs and hear interviews from classmates. Graduates will also be able to check on the progress of their Class Gift.

Visit the Warwick Reunions website for more information.

The Warwick Reunions website is also an archive for other year groups not currently celebrating their reunion year, so there is something for everyone!

Marie Dickie

Dr Marie Dickie (PhD Social History 1981-88) was awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours, for services to the community in Northamptonshire. In 1994 she became the first chair of the Northamptonshire Police Authority, a position she held until 2007. During that time she was involved at a national level with police authorities, concentrating on the development of a crime reduction approach to policing and the use of human resources in the police service. She now serves on the police committee of the Ministry of Defence.

Gaynor Keeble

Gaynor Keeble (BA QTS Arts Education 1981-85) has achieved her lifelong ambition to sing as a principal at Covent Garden, appearing as the third Lady in the Royal Opera House's production of Die Zauberflote (The Magic Flute). Gaynor has been singing professionally since 1987. The seeds of her career were sown at Warwick where she was the first choral scholar when Simon Halsey was Director of Music.

Yvonne Tasker

Interrogating Post Feminism: Gender and the Politics of Popular Culture (Duke University Press) has been co-edited by Yvonne Tasker (Film & Literature 1983-86, PhD Film Studies 1990-95). The book aims to scrutinise post-feminist culture through a feminist lens, exploring the ways in which feminism is routinely presented within commercial culture as an enterprise achieved and now redundant. The collection engages powerful post-feminist themes such as the association of emancipation with consumption and sexual display (shopping and sexiness as signs of female empowerment).

A L Kennedy

Scottish author and stand-up comedian A L Kennedy (Theatre Studies and Dramatic Arts 1983-86) has won the 2007 Costa Book of the Year award for her fifth novel, Day (Jonathan Cape); the story of a former RAF prisoner-of-war returning to Germany to confront his demons. The Costa Book Awards recognise the most enjoyable books of the last year by writers based in the UK and Ireland. A L Kennedy is also Associate Professor in the Warwick Writing Programme.

Helen Slavin

Helen Slavin's (Film & Literature 1984-87) book The Extra Large Medium (Simon and Schuster) tells the story of a woman who can see dead people, and for some reason they are all wearing chocolate brown. It is Helens first published novel. Her career has included working as a scriptwriter for television shows such as EastEnders, Holby City and Heartbeat before becoming a full-time novelist.

Ian Grubb and the Aikido club

Ian Grubb (Classical Civilisations 1987-90) founded the Aikido club during his years as a student. Ian has now reached a level of 5th Dan and has maintained his links with the Aikido club. He will be returning to Warwick on 1 and 2 March to help the club celebrate its 20th Anniversary. All past members of the club are invited to attend - click HERE for details or contact the Aikido club at Warwick on aikido@sunion.warwick.ac.uk.

Mark Silverman

The new principal of Tresham Institute in Kettering is Mark Silverman (Politics 1987-90). Mark was as a teacher before becoming curriculum manager at Harrow College in north London. His last position before this appointment was as director of quality and curriculum development at West Herts College in Watford since 2003. Whilst there he helped to lead the college through a successful Ofsted re-inspection after it was judged to have an outstanding capacity to improve. It is now one of the most improved and successful colleges in the UK.
