The class of '72 and '77 reunite!
In April, Warwick alumni who began their studies in 1967, 1972 and 1977 came back to the University to attend their 40th, 35th and 30th anniversary reunions. Despite the poor weather, over 130 alumni and their partners from around the country, and some from overseas, returned to the campus to catch up with old friends and to see how the University had changed in the years since they left.
After a tour around the campus and talks about the ongoing development of the University, the guests were able to get down to what they were really here for, the business of reconnecting with old friends. A lot has changed since the Summer of Love, the Watergate Scandal and the Queen's Silver Jubilee, but it hasn't dampened their friendships. The years rolled back as alumni reminisced about their time at Warwick and caught up with what they have been doing since graduation. In some cases the hair might be greyer (or occasionally non-existent) and some waistlines might be a little thicker than they used to be, but for some of them it seemed like they had never been away. The talk was of careers and families as well as memories of good times at the Students' Union.
As one person said 'I wouldn't have missed this for the world. I haven't seen some of these people since we graduated but the bond is still there. We are linked to each other by the time we spent at Warwick. Hopefully I will still be around for the next reunion!'

Lara Owen
The new book by Lara (Wendy) Owen (BA Comparative American Studies 1974-77) is Love Begins at 40 (Hay House). Co-written with Cherry Gilchrist the book offers emotional and practical advice on the specific challenges of midlife relationships. Drawing on their own experiences and using case studies, they show how the journey to finding a new partner usually has its fair share of comedy, embarrassment, anguish and drama, but nonetheless can work out very successfully.

Annie Gayton
Since Warwick Afifa Ematullah (formerly Annie Gayton) (BA Philosophy and Literature 1972-75), has travelled literally around the world. She's worked primarily in the visual arts; been married and had four children. On her travels she met Turkish Sufi Sheikh Mohammad Nazim al Haqqani (now U.N. representative for religion) and became his follower. In 1998 a serious car crash resulted in near-death experiences and from then on her spiritual quest has deepened. Afifa is now married to poet, editor and publisher, Paul Sutherland.
Her forthcoming book RETURN (Dream Catcher Books) features an innovative blend of her own poetry, artwork and photographs. Every page contains original, varied artwork and/or islamic calligraphy. RETURN is for readers interested in Sufism or the transcendental and those committed to alternative healing, inner work, personal growth and spiritual journeying of different kinds. Afifa's poetry expresses her mystic encounters with many forms of love.
