Last chance to book your place at the 1982 reunion
Did you start at Warwick in 1982? Do you remember Mark Thatcher getting lost in the desert, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial dominating at the box office and Eye of the Tiger topping the charts? If so, May 10 should be circled in your diary as you only have a few days left to book a place at your class reunion.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of your arrival at Warwick and dozens of your classmates have already booked their place at the reunion. This is your chance to catch up with friends you haven't seen for years, to learn what they have been up to since graduation and to update them on what you've been doing.

Piotr Fijalkowski and Kevin Gritton

Footnotes 92 - 94, out now on Cherry Red Records, is a retrospective 'best of' compilation album from early 90s indie band Adorable, who feature three Warwick graduates: Stephen Williams (MA English 1990-95, BA English Literaure 1987-90); Piotr Fijalkowski (BA Film and Literature 1987-90); and Kevin Gritton (BSc Engineering 1989-92). Both Stephen and Kevin were still studying at Warwick when the band signed to Creation Records in 1992 and although they never reached the heights of labelmates Oasis, they did release two hit albums and seven singles. In addition to the album's 17 songs, Footnotes 92 - 94 follows the story of Adorable from second place in a University of Warwick talent contest to their show-stealing appearance at Glastonbury '93 to nights out with Blur in Tokyo's entertainment district. Nowadays, many of Warwick's Indian alumni will be familiar with Stephen in his current role as Senior Liaison Officer in the University's International Office.

Andy Barker

YouGov has appointed Andy Barker (BA Philosophy 1983-86) as Head of Qualitative. Andy has worked in research for more than 20 years, mainly running qualitative units at BJM and Research International. He specialises in communication/brand strategy, consumer understanding and product innovation.

Liz Hughes

The Easy Guide to Health and Safety (Elsevier) co-authored by Liz Hughes (BA Education and Psychology 1981-84, MA Applied Social Studies 1986-88) has been published. Liz writes: 'My children were still at school when I left Warwick in 1984. Psychology was just beginning to take off as a subject and there was a demand for teaching , so I taught in further and higher education for a couple of years, to fit in with the children's holidays. A lot of the work I did was with mature students, and having been one myself I was very aware of their needs; so when the opportunity arose to write this book, my partner Phil (whose background is in health and safety) wrote the technical stuff and I re-wrote it to simplify the concepts and make it more accessible for people working in small businesses.

After teaching for a few years I came back to Warwick to do a masters in Applied Social Studies, trained as a psychiatric social worker and was eventually head hunted by the National Schizophrenia Fellowship (now Rethink). Initially I worked on development in the Midlands region and later, as the organisation expanded, I took on the development of their training section.

Phil and I then bought a boat, took off for three years, and ended up in Turkey. We now run a consultancy and divide our time between Britain and South Brittany, working from home.'

James Mackaness

Iridex Corporation have appointed James Mackaness (BA Pyschology 1982-85) as Chief Financial Officer. Previously he was Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance for NextHop Technologies, a networking wireless technology company. He has also worked at InfoGear, Electroglass and Ernst & Young.
