ARGENTINA
Alumni and friends of the University in Argentina recently met for dinner with Ana Gallegos, the University's Latin American Advisor. This gave Ana a chance to catch up with people she interviewed as prospective students more than a decade ago.
During the dinner, the alumni elected Maria Eugenia Tsanis as the new representative for Argentina. At the moment the University has only a small number of up to date e-mail addresses for Argentinean-based alumni. If you live in Argentina and did not receive an invitation to the dinner, please contact the Alumni Relations Office to update them with your details. Hopefully this will allow more alumni to attend the next gathering.
Keep an eye on the WGA Overseas website for any updates on events and more in Argentina.
BELGIUM
The WGA would like to welcome our new volunteer representative in Brussels, Claire Harris. Claire has lived in the city since 2007 and works for Avisa Partners as a public affairs consultant, specialising in competition matters.
The WGA don't have email addresses for all our alumni in the area, so if you live in Brussels and would like to receive invitations to future events, please contact the Alumni Relations Office to update them with your details.

CYPRUS
The WGA is pleased to welcome Eral Kahveci as our new volunteer representative for Northern Cyprus.
Eral started his life at Warwick on the Higher Education Foundation Programme in 2001. Following the successful completion of HEFP1 he was accepted to the BEng Civil Engineering course and graduated in June 2005. His time with us didn't end there however, as Eral decided to complete a Masters degree in Engineering Business Management with the Warwick Manufacturing Group. He now resides in Northern Cyprus where he works as a director in his family's business in the construction industry.
We hope to organise an informal get together for Warwick alumni in Northern Cyprus in the near future, so watch this space! If you are a graduate resident in Northern Cyprus and we don't have your contact details, please send them through to Timothy Farr in the Alumni Relations Office.
HONG KONG
The Warwick Graduates' Association Hong Kong Group are as active as ever! In February, 25 Warwickers and friends got together at Novotel Century Hong Kong to attend an intriguing talk conducted by Marco Szeto, a fellow Warwick graduate who is now the Curator of Xubaizhai, Hong Kong Museum of Art.
Marco shared with Hong Kong graduates the 'inside-story' of a memorable and unprecedented exhibition organized in the history of Hong Kong - the 'National Treasures: Masterpieces of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy from the Palace Museum' Exhibition. Marco took an important role in this exhibition and was responsible for the safety of 32 masterpieces in Chinese art history, including the reputable Riverside Scenery at the Qingming Festival of the Northern Song dynasty.
Marco shared the story behind the great success of the exhibition including the complicated coordination with different parties, the funny stories about the transportation of the National Treasures, the crowd control at the museum, the strict requirement of protecting the exhibits and the careful design of the exhibition hall.
His mission was certainly challenging and many attendees were surprised that such a large-scale exhibition was organized within a short period of time. Guests were not only impressed by his problem-solving intelligence but also his hard work and enthusiasm towards the exhibition. Marco's witty remarks and sense of humour made this seemingly serious talk full of fun and laughter.
WGAHK maintain year round activities and their next event will be their regular Warwick Happy Hour Gathering on Thursday 8 May. More information about this event and all of WGAHK's activities can be found on their website.

USA - Los Angeles
A reception for the University was held at the home of the British Consul General Bob Peirce and Sharon Harroun-Peirce in Los
Angeles in March and hosted by the British Consul
General, Mrs Harroun Peirce and Professor Stuart Palmer, Deputy
Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Over 50 graduates, friends and academic colleagues attended the event. It was held on the eve of a visit by a University of Warwick delegation, led by Professor Palmer, to the University of California, Irvine to develop the initial partnership discussions held in the Arts and Humanities during the Warwick Arts Faculty visit to UC Irvine in April 2007, and to broaden out these initial partnership discussions into areas of common interest in the Sciences.
Keep an eye on the WGA Overseas website for any updates on alumni events and more in Los Angeles.
USA - New York
A group of Warwick alumni got together in New York city in April for casual drinks at the Revival Bar and Lounge, hosted by WGA representative, David Hill.
David has hosted a number of drinks events in the city now and all Warwick alumni and friends are welcome to attend. This is a great opportunity for grads living and working in New York to meet fellow Warwickers in an informal environment, maybe catch up with old friends, make some new ones and help build an alumni community in the city.
We hope to have regular meet-ups in the area but don't have contact information for all our NY alumni, so if you know someone in the city, please pass this on!
For more information about future gatherings, please contact
David or Timothy Farr in the Alumni Relations Office.
