Covert processes: revealing the hidden dimensions of organisational change

Speaker: Professor Robert Marshak
May 22 2008, 6.30pm reception, 7.00–8.00pm lecture
Lecture theatre, Warwick Business School

Drawing on more than 30 years experience as an organisational change consultant, this presentation is about powerful processes that impact organisational change but usually remain unseen, unspoken or unacknowledged. Although covert in their workings, they can be insidious in their impact, often shaping outcomes without our fully realising it. The five covert dimensions of organisational change will be explained along with ways to reveal these hidden barriers within your organisation.

Professor Robert J Marshak successfully straddles both academia and practice, having held positions at universities, in government and in consulting. At his post in the US government, he has facilitated the development of the first strategic plan for agricultural research in USDA history. He has also conducted extensive consulting work with leading corporations globally such as AOL, BASF, BAE Systems, Exxon, GlaxoSmithKline, HSBC, Kodak, Marriott, Shell, UNICEF and the World Bank. Professor Marshak is one of the most recognised and respected members of the organisation development profession and academic field.
